Salesforce delivery for the Australian public sector

Syntmatic delivers Salesforce for Australian federal, state and territory government teams, with work aligned to procurement rules, security expectations and records obligations. Our CEO and co-founder has delivered Salesforce in the public sector since 2019, so your team works with people who already know how government projects run.

What government teams use Salesforce for

Agencies use Salesforce to manage grants, cases, licensing, stakeholder engagement, service requests and correspondence. The platform is strong at these jobs, but only when it is designed around policy, process and the people who use it every day. We also help agencies decide when Salesforce is not the right tool, which is sometimes the most useful advice of all.

  • Grants and funding programmes, from application to acquittal
  • Case and complaint management with clear audit trails
  • Stakeholder and ministerial correspondence tracking
  • Citizen and industry portals built on Experience Cloud
  • Licensing, registrations and compliance activity

Delivery that respects your obligations

Government systems are audited, handed over and relied on for years. We build with that in mind: least-privilege access, separate environments, controlled releases and a recorded reason for every design decision. We work with your security team on the controls they expect, provide documentation for your assessments, and align data handling with your classification and records requirements.

Our CEO and co-founder is Salesforce certified and holds an Australian Government Baseline security clearance, with NV1 in progress.

Working within procurement

How you buy matters as much as what you buy. We can respond to a request for quote where your rules allow, work as a subcontractor to a supplier already on a panel your agency uses, or provide specialist capacity inside a larger programme. Proposals set out scope, deliverables and assumptions clearly, so they are easy to assess and easy to manage once the work starts. We can also provide technical input to your approach to market, as long as we are not then bidding for the same work.

Problems we help agencies avoid

Many government Salesforce projects run into the same handful of problems. Most are avoidable with early planning.

  • Security assessment left to the final weeks, delaying go-live
  • Data migration underestimated until the first trial load
  • Licences bought before requirements were understood
  • Custom code where standard features would have done the job
  • No named owner or administrator once the project team leaves

Documentation that survives a change of team

Staff move on and contracts end. We write documentation for the person who inherits the system: what it does, how it is configured, why key decisions were made and how to run it safely. Every engagement ends with a proper handover, so your agency owns the system and is never locked in to us.

Recent public sector work

For a national cultural institution, we designed and built a first Salesforce CRM for partner and enquiry management, from solution design to a production release. Other federal work has covered a secure Experience Cloud provider portal for a department, OmniStudio and Lightning Web Components modernisation for an agency, and release engineering for a national digital identity programme.

Federal, state and territory

We work with Commonwealth agencies, the ACT Government and NSW Government teams, with consultants in Canberra and Sydney who attend workshops in person. For other states and territories we work remotely and travel for the sessions where being in the room makes a difference.

Common questions

Can you work under our existing procurement arrangements?

Usually, yes. We can quote directly where your procurement rules allow, or work as a subcontractor to a supplier already on a panel your agency uses. Tell us how you intend to buy and we will shape the proposal to that process, including the scope, deliverables and reporting your contract requires.

How do you handle security and data classification?

We follow your agency's security policies and involve your security team from the start. In practice that means least-privilege access, separate environments, controlled releases, careful handling of production data and documentation for your assessments. We are clear about which controls Salesforce provides, which your agency operates and which sit with us.

Can you work alongside our internal ICT team?

Yes, and we prefer to. Your ICT team knows your environment, standards and other systems. We work within their change management and architecture processes, share designs early for review, and transfer knowledge as we go, so your people can run the system confidently after we finish.

In practice

Selected experience

Anonymised experience of our leadership team, including work delivered through partner consultancies. We never name clients.

A national cultural institution, Canberra

A first CRM for partner and enquiry management

Problem
The institution managed a national network of partner organisations, their sites, group memberships and billing arrangements, along with incoming enquiries, across spreadsheets and email. Staff needed one system they could trust, designed so it could connect to other systems later without a redesign.
Approach
We wrote the high-level solution design and environment strategy, then designed and built the data model. It covers partner organisations, sites with unique identifiers, group memberships with start and end dates, and billing relationships, all protected by validation rules so duplicates cannot creep in. Each staff role got least-privilege permission set groups, and enquiries are routed through queues. Every change moved through source control and pull requests across development, QA and training environments, and user acceptance testing defects were fixed and retested before promotion.
Outcome
The first release was deployed to production with all 164 components passing, backed by a release runsheet, a training environment for staff and documentation the institution owns. Later releases, such as web enquiries and integrations, can build on the same design.
