Salesforce consultants in Canberra

Syntmatic is a Salesforce consultancy working with Commonwealth agencies, the ACT Government and Canberra organisations on implementation, integration and support. We are in Canberra for workshops, design sessions and go-live, and we understand how federal procurement and security expectations shape a project.

Salesforce work in a government town

Most Salesforce work in Canberra serves the public service: grants, case management, regulatory activity, stakeholder engagement and correspondence. Projects are shaped by machinery of government changes, budget cycles and the need to report to ministers and parliament. We plan for those realities from the start rather than discovering them halfway through.

Federal procurement, done properly

Commonwealth buyers work within the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, panels and standing offers, and many ICT projects are bought through approaches to market on BuyICT. We can quote directly where the rules allow, work as a subcontractor to a supplier already on a panel, or join a consulting firm's team on an existing contract. Proposals are written so assessors can see scope, deliverables, assumptions and risks at a glance.

Security expectations

Federal agencies work to the Protective Security Policy Framework and the Information Security Manual, and Salesforce projects are assessed against them. We design with those expectations in mind: least-privilege access, separate environments, controlled releases, careful handling of production data and documentation your security team can review. We are clear about which controls Salesforce provides and which your agency must operate.

Records, audits and handover

Canberra projects are scrutinised long after go-live, by auditors, Senate Estimates questions and the next team to inherit the system. We document as we build: the data model, permissions, automation and integrations, and the reason behind each significant decision. Records retention and disposal are designed in from the start, and every engagement ends with a handover that lets your agency run the system without us.

Timing around the government calendar

Canberra work follows a rhythm of budget cycles, end-of-financial-year spending, caretaker periods and parliamentary sittings. We plan workshops, releases and go-live dates around that calendar, so your people are available when we need them and changes do not land in the middle of Estimates or the last week of June.

In the room when it matters

Some work is best done face to face: discovery workshops, design walkthroughs with policy and operations teams, user acceptance testing and the days around go-live. We attend those in person across Canberra, from the Parliamentary Triangle and Barton to Belconnen, Woden and Gungahlin, and work remotely in between to keep costs down.

  • Discovery workshops with policy, programme and operations staff
  • Design walkthroughs with architecture and security teams
  • User acceptance testing alongside the people who will use the system
  • Go-live and the first days of support

ACT Government and local organisations

Beyond the Commonwealth, we work with ACT Government teams, Canberra consulting firms delivering into government, and local businesses and member organisations that want a well-built CRM without engaging a large national firm. Typical local work includes:

  • Salesforce capacity for consulting firms delivering into Commonwealth programmes
  • CRM for member associations and peak bodies based in Canberra
  • Grants and stakeholder management for ACT Government teams
  • Health checks for organisations that have inherited an org from a previous provider

Common questions

Do you work on site in Canberra?

Yes, for the work that benefits from it. Discovery workshops, design reviews, testing with users and go-live support are usually best done in person, and we attend them in Canberra. Day-to-day build and support work is done remotely, which keeps costs down and fits around your team's schedule.

Can you work with our agency's ICT and security teams?

Yes. We share designs early with your architecture and security teams, follow your change management process, and provide the documentation they need for assessment. We are used to working inside agency environments and to the expectations set by the Protective Security Policy Framework and the Information Security Manual.

Do you work with Canberra businesses as well as government?

Yes. Alongside federal and ACT Government work, we support Canberra consulting firms, member organisations and small and medium businesses. The same care with documentation and security applies, scaled to the size of the organisation and the budget available, and we are happy to meet wherever suits you.

In practice

Experience in and around Canberra

Anonymised experience of our leadership team, including work delivered through partner consultancies. We never name clients.

A national cultural institution, Canberra

A first CRM for partner and enquiry management

Problem
The institution managed a national network of partner organisations, their sites, group memberships and billing arrangements, along with incoming enquiries, across spreadsheets and email. Staff needed one system they could trust, designed so it could connect to other systems later without a redesign.
Approach
We wrote the high-level solution design and environment strategy, then designed and built the data model. It covers partner organisations, sites with unique identifiers, group memberships with start and end dates, and billing relationships, all protected by validation rules so duplicates cannot creep in. Each staff role got least-privilege permission set groups, and enquiries are routed through queues. Every change moved through source control and pull requests across development, QA and training environments, and user acceptance testing defects were fixed and retested before promotion.
Outcome
The first release was deployed to production with all 164 components passing, backed by a release runsheet, a training environment for staff and documentation the institution owns. Later releases, such as web enquiries and integrations, can build on the same design.

A federal government department, Canberra

A secure provider portal on Experience Cloud

Problem
The department needed external providers to submit information, search their records and upload documents through a portal, with government-grade security on every file and data kept in step with internal systems.
Approach
Working inside a consulting partner's delivery team over two years, we built the portal's Lightning Web Components: dynamic forms, search and filter, data tables and secure file uploads scanned for viruses through the records management system's API. OmniStudio guided the provider journeys, metadata-driven Apex mapped objects without hard-coding, and platform events kept systems synchronised in real time.
Outcome
The portal went live with round-the-clock go-live support, and test and release teams were supported through each production deployment. Because the mapping is driven by metadata, it can be changed without code.

A federal government agency, Canberra

Modernising a customer-facing Salesforce platform

Problem
The agency's Salesforce platform relied on legacy Aura components and on Flows that were reaching their limits under high concurrency. Testers spent too long preparing data in lower environments.
Approach
In a Baseline-cleared environment, we built branded OmniStudio journeys (OmniScripts, FlexCards and Data Mappers) to the government's accessibility standards. We moved high-volume logic from Flows into Apex and migrated Aura components to Lightning Web Components. We also designed a data-seeding approach that copies realistic data models into test sandboxes, and set up and tested Connected Apps for third-party integrations.
Outcome
Pages load faster and are easier to maintain. Critical production bottlenecks in OmniStudio were resolved. Testers start with matching data in every environment, which shortens QA and UAT cycles.
